Bought our house in November, about 2000 sq ft driveway, shoveled the first major snow in December, vowed not to do that again. Shoveled it again with almost 2ft a couple weeks ago. Took a break, came in and shopped here for my first snow blower, read the reviews and specs, placed the order, and crossed my fingers. Free shipping via Pilot, fast and easily tracked, figures it would get delayed by a half day because of the current snowstorm, ultimate irony having to shovel the driveway so the truck could deliver it. After all the mixed reviews, happy to see it was the correct model, safely packaged, easily lift gated and pallet jacked into my garage. Well packaged, easily opened, and yes the directions are slightly cryptic, but not ambiguous, just take your time, the 30 minute estimate is about right, but their universal tool needs help, so keep your wire cutters and sockets near. As mentioned in another review, oil was a little low, glad I had read that one and picked up a quart of 5W-30 along with a gas can. Assembled smoothly, easily tested, easily started right up with the electric starter, cord is a bit short, you might want to have a longer extension handy. I had read all the back and forth about the engine size and horsepower, I opted for this model because of the Briggs ; Stratton, but later found out it's still only about 8 horses, rather small compared to the rest of their production line, once again I crossed my fingers. As I said, we had a 2 foot dump in December, piled along the edges, very crusty and solid, with a new couple feet on top and piled in front of it awaiting this delivery, and then another foot of heavy wet snow and ice. Welcome to New Hampshire in January. Took me a solid 3 hours with only a break in the middle to knock down the 6' edges, but it did a great job through all the ice, snow, and slush, truly a hard workout. Controls were easy to learn, access, operate and adjust. Only option I wasn't overly impressed with was the power steering, but perhaps at higher speeds in dry powder it may come in handy. Overall, a very positive experience, from purchasing through its first trials, hopefully for many years to come.
